J. Johnson. A versatile composer, Reid has written music for strings, chamber ensembles, solo bass, jazz ensembles, and symphony orchestras. Among his honors and awards are a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, a MacDowell Colony Grant, and two Grammy nominations for his 2014 release Quiet Pride—The Elizabeth Catlett Project.
